Seattle Professional Football, a group of business and community leaders, announces its intention to attempt to secure a National Football League franchise. Herman Sarkowsky served as the spokesman for the group, which also included eventual majority owner Lloyd Nordstrom. The NFL announced on June 4, 1974, that Seattle would have a franchise for the 1976 season.
