On Tuesday, the Seahawks signed rookie running back Robert Henry Jr. to the active roster, giving Seattle depth at a position where it was limited.

Rookie Jadarian Price is on injured reserve and has to sit three more games before he is eligible to return, Zach Charbonnet is still working his way back from an ACL injury, and Jacardia Wright was recently placed on the practice squad injured reserve list.

Henry joins Emanuel Wilson, George Holani, Velus Jones Jr. and recent practice squad addition, Dontae McMillan, to round out Seattle's current running back room.

Henry, who went undrafted out of UTSA, was most recently on Washington's practice squad and was on the sideline for the Seahawks' Week 3 matchup against the Commanders. He could tell the Seahawks were a "great team."

"Great energy," Henry said. "Very physical."

During his three preseason games with the Commanders, Henry rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries.

In his last season at UTSA, he produced 1,045 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on a 6.9 yard-per-carry average. Henry says he brings elusiveness and a play style similar to that of Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

It'll take time for Henry to get caught up, in terms of the playbook, which he says he'll be studying every night, but he wants to be ready to go as soon as possible.

"It's a learning process," he said. "And every day I get an opportunity to get in the playbook, every night, that's what I'm gonna be doing."

Henry was someone the Seahawks, specifically running backs coach Thomas Hammock, talked to during the pre-draft process and head coach Mike Macdonald said their evaluation of Henry was "solid."

"He's got good vision, got good burst, got good acceleration," Macdonald said. "A lot of good stuff. ... It's exciting to have him, we'll see what he can do."

The Seahawks and 49ers face off at Lumen Field in Week 5 on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Take a look back through history at the Seahawks' matchups against the 49ers.
