Seattle Among Most Improved Offenses in 2016 Draft
The Seahawks used eight of their 10 selections in the 2016 NFL Draft on the offensive side of the football, adding three offensive linemen in tackle/guard Germain Ifedi, guard Rees Odhiambo, and center Joey Hunt, three running backs in C.J. Prosise, Alex Collins, and Zac Brooks, a tight end in Nick Vannett, and a wide receiver in Kenny Lawler.
Lance Zierlein at NFL.com took notice of Seattle's offensive emphasis and labeled the Seahawks as the team that improved the most on offense with its picks in the 2016 draft. Here's what Zierlein had to say about Seattle's haul:
The Seahawks knew they had to add talent to their offensive line and try to solidify the running back position with the departure of Marshawn Lynch. They accomplished both. Germain Ifedi has right tackle or guard potential and fits the physical and athletic mold the Seahawks look for. Rees Odhiambo (third-round pick) has second-round talent as a raw but developing guard prospect. He dropped a little due to injury. C.J. Prosise and Alex Collins have a chance to step in and fight for carries right away at the running back spot. Tight end Nick Vannett has the tools to become a starter for the Seahawks relatively quickly.
Rounding out Zierlein's top six most improved offenses behind Seattle are the Los Angeles Rams (No. 2), Houston Texans (No. 3), Miami Dolphins (No. 4), Cincinnati Bengals (No. 5), and Indianapolis Colts (No. 6).
