Jarran Reed's Journey To Seattle

Seahawks.com digital media host Jackie Montgomery joined rookie defensive tackle Jarran Reed on a Delta flight from Southern California to Seattle.

Before training camp kicked off, Delta Air Lines, the Official Air Line of the Seahawks, provided me with the opportunity to talk with second-round draft pick Jarran Reed down in Southern California. Not only did I get to interview the massive 6-foot-3, 311-pound defensive tackle out of Alabama, but I also followed him around for the day as he prepared for his first Seahawks training camp.

First up, we met for lunch at a restaurant in Manhattan Beach to talk life. We covered everything from his unconventional path to Alabama to his tight knit family and its newest addition, four-month-old daughter, Jaycee. Come to find out the man drafted to intimidate opposing offenses is a softy off the field as we shared countless photos of our kids. Note who finished their entire lunch. Spoiler: it wasn't the 300-pound lineman.

Next, Jarran and I headed off to Los Angeles International Airport to hop on a flight bound for the Emerald City. Since I'm traveling with an NFL player, we fly in style with first-class seats on Delta Air Lines, including access to the swanky Delta Sky Club ®. As we relaxed in the exclusive waiting area, we talked more shop. This time about his excitement for his first NFL season as a Seattle Seahawk. He was grinning from ear to ear.

Finally, Jarran and I board our Delta Air Lines flight where the questions were all from the 12s. It was a fun way to wrap-up our day and to see more of Jarran's personality. A personality that is as big as his body stature, massive. After all was said and done, I learned a lot about J-Reed, who's smart, funny, humble, a hard worker and most of all excited to be a Seattle Seahawk.
