Important 2023 NFL Offseason Dates

Taking a look at some of the important dates coming up for the Seahawks this offseason.

The 2022 season saw the Seahawks return to the playoffs while also showing a lot of potential that bodes well for the team's future. And with a lot of draft capital and salary cap space to work with, the 2023 offseason is one that could help set the Seahawks up for even more success next year and beyond.

Already the Seahawks have started off their offseason by signing 10 players from their 2022 practice squad to reserve/future contracts, and by signing Pro-Bowl kicker Jason Myers to a four-year contract extension, but there are a lot more moves to make between now and the start of the 2023 season. With that in mind, here are some of the important dates coming up this offseason. You can find a full list of NFL important dates here.

February 21: Teams may designate franchise or transition players.

February 28-March 6: NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

March 7, 1 p.m. PT: Deadline for teams to designate franchise or transition players.

March 7: College Pro Days begin.

March 7-April 19: Draft-eligible facility visits begin. Teams are permitted 30 non-local players for physical exams/visits. No on-field workouts.

March 13, 9 a.m. PT: Free agency negotiation period. Teams and free agents can begin negotiating contracts, but deals cannot yet become official.

March 15, 1 p.m. PT: Start of the new league year. Free agents can sign with new teams and trades can become official. This is also the deadline for teams to submit qualifying offers to restricted free agents with expiring contracts.

March 26-29: Annual League Meetings.

April 17: Teams with returning head coaches may begin offseason workout programs. Teams with new head coaches can begin offseason workout programs on April 3.

April 21: Deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets.

April 27-29: NFL Draft in Kansas City, Missouri.

May 1: Deadline for teams to exercise fifth-year option for 2020 first-round picks. For the Seahawks, that means making a decision on Jordyn Brooks.

May 5-8 or 12-15: Teams can hold a three-day rookie minicamp.

The Seahawks cleaned out their lockers at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton a day after their 2022 season ended in a Wild Card loss to the 49ers.
