Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald's ties to the military run deep. He was raised in a military family and his appreciation for service members began at an early age through his father, who served in the U.S. Army and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Vote for head coach Mike Macdonald here.
Macdonald honors service members through meaningful engagement opportunities that recognize their sacrifice and commitment. Since his arrival in Seattle, he has prioritized creating connections between the Seahawks and the military community, including bringing the team to Joint Base Lewis-McChord to learn from active-duty service members and their families. He highlights the discipline, teamwork, leadership, and selfless service demonstrated by military personnel as examples for his team to emulate.
During Seattle's Change of Command Ceremony at Training Camp this past summer, he welcomed more than 50 U.S. Navy sailors and leaders post-practice, taking time to meet with and personally thank them for their service.
Macdonald empowers the military community by fostering a culture of respect, learning, and gratitude throughout the Seahawks organization. Whether hosting military units at team activities, learning from elite service members, or welcoming the U.S. Navy Blue Angels to speak with the team about leadership, trust, and teamwork, he continually seeks opportunities to bridge the worlds of football and military service. Through these efforts, he strengthens the bond between the Seahawks and the military community.
