Happy Earth Day Birthday To A Man Who Literally Shook The Globe: Marshawn Lynch

Retired Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch turns 30 years old on April 22, which also marks the 46th celebration of Earth Day.

Retired running back Marshawn Lynch celebrates his 30th birthday today, Friday, April 22. At the same time, planet Earth - which "Beast Mode" literally shook with his iconic "Beast Quake" run in the 2010 playoffs - celebrates the 46th year of an environmental movement inspiring people to take action, something we know "Beast Mode" is all about (yes, the Earth Day tie-in primarily served as an excuse to link to those memorable Lynch moments, so be sure to check them out).

Lynch hung up his cleats in the middle of Super Bowl 50 after an injury-riddled 2015 campaign, but he rushed for 5,357 yards and 48 touchdowns from 2011-14 and played a large role in the Seahawks advancing to consecutive Super Bowls, helping the franchise win its first Lombardi Trophy during the 2013 season with a 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos. Made clear in his "Beast Quake" run that generated fan reaction that registered on the Richter scale, Lynch shined when the stage was biggest, rushing for 937 yards and nine touchdowns in 11 playoff games, including six games with more than 100 yards, a total only eclipsed by Emmitt Smith and Terrell Davis (seven each).

"He had a tremendous run with us and we had a tremendous run with him," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said of Lynch at February's NFL Combine. "Extraordinary memories that were put together and games that were played and the events and the style and all that he was a huge part of all that. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time. It was great to see him have the chance, back in his days in Buffalo things were getting kind of quiet there, and he came back to life with us and brought us a lot of energy and we had lot of fun together and a lot of good stuff happened.

"His style fit into the mentality that we were trying to bring into the program and the flair that he brings also was just part of it. We fit a lot of guys together and he was part of a bunch of guys that brought a real exciting attitude, so it worked out really well.''
