Good morning, 12s.
Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Friday, Aug. 28 - about your Seattle Seahawks:
Seahawks Fans Say "I Do"
Brandon Furrer, a Mason County volunteer and Department of Natural Resources firefighter, had planned to marry Heather Patenode this Saturday. But Furrer expected to be sent to the wildfires in Central Washington, so he and his fiancee moved their wedding day to Tuesday at Fire District 4 headquarters in Shelton, Wash.
"We've been working non-stop for three weeks," Furrer told KING 5 News earlier this week. "I just want to do it tonight. That way, we're married before I head out. ... I want to make sure that everything's all set and done before I leave."
The ceremony was held in front of a group of friends, family, other firefighters, and the pair's nine-month-old daughter, Sylvia. At the request of the bride and groom, the hall was decorated in Seahawks and Washington State Cougars colors, with Furrer dressed in a green Seahawks jersey and Patenode a crimson Cougar shirt as they exchanged rings.
"A little bit concerned, I don't really want him to go," said Patenode. "Finally, we just decided let's do it now before you go."
Seahawks fans can help make a difference to those impacted by the wildfires by going to any Albertsons or Safeway throughout the state and contributing at any check stand. Volunteers will also be collecting cash donations at the Seahawks' Sept. 3 game against the Oakland Raiders at Seattle's CenturyLink Field. All donations collected go directly to local relief agencies for long-term support.
