Friday Round-Up: Pro Football Focus Looks At The Best Player Over 30 A Every Defensive Position

Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett made Pro Football Focus' list of the best defensive players 30 or older.

Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today — Friday, June 2 — about your Seattle Seahawks:

Michael Bennett Makes PFF's Over 30 List

The crew at Pro Football Focus put together a full list of defensive players at or over the age of 30 that are still going strong in the NFL. The list picks one player at each position on defense and focuses more on recent performance than their potential and play historically.

Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett was the second edge defender to be included on the list opposite of Miami's Cameron Wake. Bennett, who also lines up on this roster next to Ndamukong Suh and former teammate Brandon Mebane, is the only current Seahawks player to be named.

Here's why PFF went with Seattle's Pro Bowl end:

*Michael Bennett, Seattle Seahawks (86.3) *

*While Bennett got off to a poor start to his NFL career and had a hard time to earn a grade above 50.0 in his first two seasons, he's been nothing but a top performer coming off the edge ever since. As a result, in 2016 Bennett posted his sixth consecutive grade above 85.0 and ranked 12th in the league among edge defenders. Furthermore, Bennett has been one of the few edge defenders able to perform at a top level when kicking inside too. In fact, 354 of Bennett's 689 snaps in 2016 came either head up the tackles or inside of them. *

Tweet Of The Day

Today's "Tweet of the Day" comes from Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who debuted in Nike's newest ad for the Alpha Menace Elite football cleat:

Finally, ESPN's Mike Sando believes the Seahawks will be the biggest challenger to the New England Patriots in 2017:

The Steelers are that team from a pure talent standpoint, but the Seahawks have shown they match up well enough with New England to be the most problematic challenger. The Seahawks won at Gillette Stadium last season, even though Russell Wilson was less than full strength. A few years ago, Seattle had a double-digit lead on New England in the Super Bowl before Cliff Avril's injury gutted its pass rush.
