Blasting through the speakers at the Seahawks' Training Camp practices are carefully curated melodies meant to pump up the players and crowd for a morning of fun. The Seahawks' DJ Supa Sam normally plays a mix of rock, pop, and hip hop meant to please all audiences. However, in the wake of recent events, one song meant a little more as Seattle took the field for the final training camp practice open to fans.

Paying tribute to the recent passing of Aretha Franklin, DJ Supa Sam included Respect, one of Franklin's most iconic anthems. A signature song from the Queen of Soul and one of Rolling Stone's "Greatest Songs of All Time," Respect demands strength and confidence from its listeners.

On Thursday, her melodies were heard among everyone in attendance and brought back some fond memories and deeper thoughts, including from quarterback Russell Wilson.

"I remember growing up to Aretha with my whole family dancing and singing to it," a smiling Wilson recalled of Franklin, who also performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl XL between the Seahawks and Steelers. "She was a woman of culture, a woman that was able to really change the circumstance of music and so to think about that and what she's done… legends never die, as you know."

Franklin's legacy will remain in those who are inspired by her music like Wilson and his wife, Ciara.

"I never got to go see [her] live in person, but I know Aretha Franklin meant a lot to Ciara [and] meant a lot to me…" Wilson said. "I know that she'll be up in Heaven smiling down and singing her tail off."
