Former Seahawks long snapper Nate Boyer and FOX Sports' Jay Glazer started MVP, Merging Vets & Players, in 2015 after recognizing the similarities both in the personalities of former athletes and former service men and women, and in the struggles they face adjusting to life following their careers.
Boyer, a former Army Green Beret, and Glazer, an NFL Insider who has helped train professional athletes at his Unbreakable Performance Center, now bring together veterans and former athletes for workouts at Glazer's Los Angeles-based gym to create the type of team setting that will allow them to thrive in the next chapters of their lives. To date, MVP has helped prevent suicide and drug use, helped get multiple homeless vets into housing and find jobs, as well as bring in resources to aid with résumé building and job interview training.
As part of the NFL's Salute to Service month, the Seahawks Pro Shop has united with MVP. Throughout November, the team store will donate 10 percent of in-store sales of Salute to Service gear to Boyer and Glazer's non-profit program.
