Seahawks Running Back Chris Carson Nominated For Rookie Of The Week At NFL.com

After rushing 20 times for 93 yards in Sunday's 12-9 win over the San Francisco 49ers, Seahawks rookie running back Chris Carson is one of five players nominated for Rookie of the Week at NFL.com.

At NFL.com, Chris Carson is one of five first-year players up for Rookie of the Week for their performances during the second week of the 2017 regular season.

In this past Sunday's 12-9 Seahawks win over the San Francisco 49ers, Carson recorded 100 yards from scrimmage, carrying 20 times for 93 yards, 41 of which came with less than five minutes to play in the ballgame to help Seattle run out the clock and finish the game in victory formation. He also added one catch for seven yards.

Postgame, Pete Carroll came away "really fired up" about Carson's outing, and on Monday the Seahawks head coach complimented the rookie's day once again.

"I think we can have very high expectations for Chris' play," Carroll said yesterday. "He has shown us and now that we have looked at him all through camp and all of that and nothing has changed in his style of approach, his toughness and all of that. Everything he has done has been very very consistent. I think he can continue to go and he didn't have any problems carrying it 20 times which is a good sign. I've told you that he is a good pass blocker.  He had a couple opportunities that he will do better in weeks ahead than he did in this last game, but he's done everything we've really asked of him, so we are going to keep going with him and mix him in with the fellas and try to get a really good production out of that position."

The Oklahoma State product and Seahawks' seventh-round draft pick is up against Kansas City running back Kareem Hunt, who had 109 yards from scrimmage in the Chiefs' 27-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles; Indianapolis safety Malik Hooker, who had his first career interception in the Colts' 16-13 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals; Baltimore linebacker Tyus Bowser, who had an interception and a sack in the Ravens' 24-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns; and San Francisco defensive end Solomon Thomas, who had two tackles for loss and a quarterback hit against the Seahawks.

Fans can vote Carson for Rookie of the Week right here. Voting for Week 2 is open through 12 p.m. PT on Friday, September 22.

The Seahawks come out victorious for their home opener at CenturyLink Field 12-9 against the 49ers.
