The Seahawks welcome the San Francisco 49ers to Seattle this weekend for a Week 2 matchup at CenturyLink Field. Kickoff is set for 1:25 p.m. PT with television coverage on FOX (channel 13 in Seattle).
Here's a look at which team the national media is predicting to win on Sunday, September 17:
Elliot Harrison at NFL.com predicts a 30-9 Seahawks win, "San Francisco is in Year 3 of the post-Harbaugh era, trying to build a nucleus that can compete with Seattle. Newly minted GM John Lynch hasn't forged a cadre of talent yet, at least not enough to make this contest close in the toughest place to play in the NFL."
Nick Wagoner at ESPN.com also gives the Seahawks the edge at home, 24-10, "CenturyLink Field has been a house of horrors for the Niners, with the Seahawks winning the past five regular-season meetings there by a combined score of 154-54. Given the Niners' issues on the interior of the offensive line (they gave up four sacks and eight quarterback hits to Carolina in Week 1) and Seattle's dominant defensive front, it's hard to see how the 49ers turn it around here. Kyle Shanahan's wait for his first victory as a head coach continues."
Brady Henderson at ESPN.com sees a bounce-back performance for Seattle, 23-10, "This is what you'd call a get-right game for the Seahawks. They've had the 49ers' number of late, sweeping the season series the past three years and winning the past five meetings at CenturyLink Field by an average of 20 points. During the Seahawks' six-game winning streak against San Francisco, the 49ers' Total QBR against Seattle has been 26.8 to 51.3 versus all other teams, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Seattle's offense is coming off a poor performance against Green Bay, but it should get easier Sunday while playing at home against one of only two defenses that didn't record a sack in Week 1. There's no such thing as a gimme in the NFL, but this might be the closest thing."
Pete Prisco at CBSSports.com likes the Seahawks by two touchdowns, 27-13, "The 49ers didn't do much on offense in their opener and now face a dominant defense in Seattle on the road. That's not a good thing. The Seattle offense has line issues, but I think they pick it up here at home. Seahawks big."
Chris Simms at BleacherReport.com also takes Seattle to win 27-13, "Seattle is the more talented team, and the 49ers are missing their best defensive player in Reuben Foster. The Seahawks should be able to find more points than they did a week ago. The 49ers will likely have to keep searching."
Sam Farmer at the Los Angeles Times thinks the Seahawks defense sets the tone at home and Seattle wins 24-14.
Jim Moore at 710Sports.com predicts a Seahawks shutout win, 27-0.
At ProFootballTalk.com, Mike Florio has the Seahawks winning 30-9, while Michael David Smith projects a 28-13 victory for Seattle.
All eight analysts at CBSSports.com predict a Seattle win; all nine analysts at ESPN.com feel the same way; and so do all five writers at USA Today.
