Pete Carroll Provides Injury Updates On C.J. Prosise, Thomas Rawls, Malik McDowell And More

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll gave the latest injury updates on running backs C.J. Prosise and Thomas Rawls, plus more.

The Seattle Seahawks hit the field Monday to begin preparation for their regular season road opener against the Green Bay Packers. Head coach Pete Carroll shared the following injury updates following practice:

At running back, Carroll said C.J. Prosise is ready to go this week as they prepare for the Packers, but they will find out Thomas Rawls' status during the week. Rawls has been dealing with an ankle injury. "C.J. is a little ahead of him in that regard," Carroll said in terms of timetables.

Seahawks players Tyler Lockett, Luke Joeckel, Michael Wilhoite, Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril all left last week to receive the same knee procedure linebackers K.J. Wright and D.J. Alexander underwent in the month of August. Carroll said all of them except Wilhoite practiced Monday. "Probably we won't know until Friday on those guys," Carroll said regarding their status for Sunday. "Those guys are all really claiming favorable results and all that so we'll see how it goes." Carroll noted that linebacker Terence Garvin capitalized on his opportunity with Wilhoite out due to injury and will likely get the start at strongside linebacker against the Packers.

It's unclear whether or not Lockett will make his anticipated return to action from a leg injury against the Packers, however, Carroll did note that if he plays, expect the third-year pro to occupy his regular duties as the team's return man. "If Tyler can go he'll return for us," Carroll said.

Rookie defensive lineman Malik McDowell will regularly be in-and-out with the team as he makes his way back from a vehicular accident. Carroll said they are focused on comfortably getting McDowell back in the building at this time. "We are trying to work him back in with us and just re-connecting and making sure that he has a sense of coming to work and all that kind of stuff and he feels comfortable about that with really no demands on him at this time."
