Ice Cube, Allen Iverson Visit The Seahawks Ahead of BIG3 Basketball Playoffs

Rapper Ice Cube and NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson are in Seattle this week for the BIG3 Basketball playoffs.

The afternoon following their 20-13 preseason victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Friday night at CenturyLink Field, the Seahawks met for a 'Tell The Truth Monday'-style meeting at team headquarters, where before reviewing the game from the evening prior players were treated with a special visit from two legends in their respective fields.

Rapper Ice Cube and NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson stopped by Renton's Virginia Mason Athletic Center on Saturday to meet with players, coaches, and staff ahead of the pair's upcoming BIG3 Basketball league playoffs, a 3-on-3 event set for Sunday afternoon at Seattle's Key Arena.

Excitement was abound for both parties, as Seahawks players lined up to greet some of their childhood idols while Ice Cube and Iverson soaked up the NFL atmosphere.

"Hope my Raiders don't divorce me," the Los Angeles-area native Ice Cube said as he strapped on a pair of blue-and-green Seahawks gloves.

"This is bucket list stuff right here," Iverson, a standout football player in high school, added in between games of H.O.R.S.E. on one of the Seahawks' indoor hoops.

Pete Carroll would later invite the duo into the team's 'Tell The Truth Monday' meeting, where after a humorous lesson from coach Carroll on the importance of practice, Iverson would top cornerback Richard Sherman and linebacker Mike Morgan in a series of free-throw shootouts — a challenge Carroll likes to orchestrate at the start of team meetings to help reinforce his 'Always Compete' mantra.

Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s BIG3 Basketball playoffs at Key Arena, where fans can catch Seattle SuperSonics legend Gary Payton coaching his 3 Headed Monsters featuring former Sonics standout Rashard Lewis. And judging by a few back-and-forths Saturday, a few Seahawks players might even make an appearance.
