Seahawks Sign Defensive Tackle Tony McDaniel, Waive/Injured Cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste

The Seahawks added a familiar face to the roster on Tuesday, signing veteran defensive tackle Tony McDaniel to the 90-man roster on the final day of training camp.

The Seahawks signed Tony McDaniel Tuesday, bringing back the veteran defensive tackle who was part of the team for back-to-back Super Bowl appearances with the 2013 and 2014 Seahawks. To make room on the 90-man roster, Seattle waived/injured cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste.

In his two seasons with Seattle, McDaniel appeared in every game, starting all but four, postseason included. McDaniel made 84 tackles in two seasons with Seattle and had two sacks, playing primarily as the three-technique defensive tackle in the base defense next to nose tackle Brandon Mebane.

McDaniel spent last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, appearing in 14 games, starting three. A 10-year veteran, McDaniel has appeared in 125 games with the Jaguars, Dolphins, Seahawks and Buccaneers, starting 37.

Jean-Baptiste, meanwhile, was originally signed to the Seahawks' practice squad last December. He hurt his shoulder in this past Saturday's preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.
