Seahawks Running Back Marshawn Lynch Wears Strong Safety Kam Chancellor's Jersey at Practice

The "Beast Mode" running back was sporting a new look on "Turnover Thursday"

As the Seahawks hit the field for a "Turnover Thursday" practice at Renton's Virginia Mason Athletic Center ahead of their Week 1 matchup with the St. Louis Rams, running back Marshawn Lynch was sporting a new look.

Instead of No. 24, Lynch was wearing No. 31, the jersey of his teammate Kam Chancellor, who has yet to report.

"It's just a testament to the closeness of our locker room and how much each and every single guy means to one another," defensive coordinator Kris Richard said after practice. "That was pretty cool."

Richard said he has stayed in contact with Chancellor throughout the process.

"He wants to be here, we want him here, and right now there will be a resolution, and it'll come down to it," Richard said. "So ultimately, we're encouraged by it. He's involved, he's with us, he's still here, he's taken this stand, and we're just waiting to get him back."

Head coach Pete Carroll has said second-year pro Dion Bailey will start at strong safety in Chancellor's place against the Rams this Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. PT with television coverage on FOX.

Instead of No. 24, the Seahawks running back wore No. 31 on the practice field.
