Ed Goines is entering his ninth season with the Seahawks in 2022, having recently added the title of Chief Legal Officer. As Chief Legal Officer, Goines oversees the corporate legal affairs and government relations strategy and policies for the Seahawks and First & Goal Inc./Lumen Field. Goines works closely with the organization's business partners and was instrumental in securing an agreement with Lumen Technologies for renaming our stadium to Lumen Field (formerly CenturyLink Field). During the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, Goines worked with local, state and federal government leaders and public health officials across a range of significant projects, including transforming Lumen Field into a U.S. Army Corp of Engineers temporary medical facility, negotiating a state order permitting the safe return of player training, practice and spectator-less sporting events at Lumen Field, establishing protocols for the safe and orderly return-to-workplace for coaching and football operations staff, negotiating an agreement to transform Lumen Field Event Center into the largest civilian-operated vaccination site in the U.S., and establishing protocols for the safe and orderly return of spectators to Lumen Field. Prior to his work with the Seahawks, Goines was Assistant Chief Counsel for The Walt Disney Company. Before Disney, he served as General Counsel and Vice President of Business Affairs for the San Francisco 49ers. His work in the entertainment and sports fields also includes serving as in-house legal counsel for Major League Soccer, Ticketmaster, and Mattel. Goines began his law career as an associate in the Los Angeles office of Baker & Hostetler. A graduate of University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in 1992, he obtained a bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 1988. Goines was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
