The people with NFL Mexico are wonderful and have kept the seven Sea Gals on a busy schedule the first morning here. We began the morning at the National Autonomous University (University of Mexico) with a photo shoot and interaction with the media.
Our next stop was at the Reforma newspaper for internet chat with readers. The Reforma is one of the top two newspapers in Mexico with national coverage and correspondents in other parts of the country.
So far the Sea Gals are doing a lot of smiling for the camera and talking up the NFL and the Seattle Seahawks! It has been a nice surprise to hear and watch Amanda speaking Spanish!
It has been a whirlwind trip to Mexico City, and we have enjoyed every moment! We only wish we had more time to see more of this beautiful city. Fortunately, the amazing staff of NFL Mexico know to take advantage of sightseeing opportunities during our busy schedule. On Tuesday they surprised us with a quick visit to Mexico's Angel of Independence on the way to our photo shoot. We couldn't resist taking several pictures in front of the breathtaking structure. We then enjoyed a professional photo session with photographer Sergio Rivero, who made us feel right at home in the studio. We can't wait to see the photos!
Our first full day in Mexico ended with an appearance at Game Planet at Santa Fe, where we promoted EA Sports and Madden 09. We had our first performace of the trip, but definitely not our last! Our favorite part was bringing members of the audience on stage to dance with us.
Wednesday proved to be another exciting day. We started the day at the hotel, participating in a pool side video shoot with ESPN. It was great to practice the language. We even learned the Spanish name for Seahawks: Halcones Marinos!
Before our next appearance, we received an incredible surprise - Gena on the cover of the Mexican newspaper, Reforma. Consumed with excitement, we delved into the pages. Inside we were greeted by a two-page spread, including our interview and several photos from our visit Tuesday.
The rest of our day included an interview with El Economista newspaper and performances and autograph sessions at Sears and Mitsubishi Motors. We have met so many Seahawks fans! One long-time fan had us sign his Seahawks baseball cap from 1980. Another, dressed in Hawks gear quickly named 20 players currently on the team. The fans have given us such a warm welcome and we are eager to meet them all.
