Friday Round-Up: Pete Carroll Previews Seahawks Rookie Minicamp On 710 ESPN Seattle

A daily link round-up of what's "out there" about your Seattle Seahawks

!

Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Friday, May 8 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Carroll Talks Camp

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll joined the team's flagship radio station 710 ESPN Seattle this morning.

The full audio file is embedded for you below, with Carroll previewing the atmosphere surrounding this weekend's rookie minicamp that's expected to feature the team's eight draft picks and 12 players who agreed to terms as undrafted rookie free agents.

Carroll also offered a few key personnel updates during his segment with "Brock and Salk," outlined below.

- Carroll said defensive tackle Brandon Mebane looks "fantastic" and is "way ahead of schedule" from the hamstring setback that landed him on injured reserve last season. Carroll didn't offer a timeline for Mebane's return to full speed, but said he is "really dedicated" to the recovery process.

  • Offensive lineman Alvin Bailey, the presumptive starter at left guard after James Carpenter signed a free-agent deal with the New York Jets this offseason, has come back to work roughly 30 pounds lighter, according to Carroll. Bailey's listed weight last season was 320 pounds. "That's a big statement of what a guy took to the offseason," said Carroll. "Everybody appreciates that."
  • Nickel cornerback Jeremy Lane continues his rehab from the broken arm and torn ACL he suffered in February's Super Bowl. On Lane, Carroll said, "You can't tell he's hurt. He looks great moving around and all that right now in the rehab session." Carroll also noted Lane's arm injury was equally severe as the setback to his knee. "It was really a terrible broken arm," said Carroll. "But he'll make it back, his attitude is great."

Tweet Of The Day

Today's "Tweet of the Day" comes from Seahawks free safety Dion Bailey, who shares a beautiful photo from the top of Rattlesnake Ridge, located south of North Bend, Wash.

Rob Rang at SeahawkFootball.com makes five bold predictions for this weekend's rookie minicamp.

Elliot Harrison at NFL.com says the Seahawks have enjoyed a solid offseason of player acquisition since losing Super Bowl XLIX.

And Charles Davis at NFL.com projects Seahawks wide receiver/return specialist Tyler Lockett as one of 2015's rookies most likely to succeed.
