Thursday Round-Up: What The Media Are Saying Before The Seahawks' Second Preseason Game

A daily link round-up of what's "out there" about the Seattle Seahawks.

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Thursday, August 18 - about your Seattle Seahawks as they ready for their 2016 preseason debut at home at 7 p.m. PT against the Minnesota Vikings at CenturyLink Field.

Previewing The Second Preseason Game

Here at Seahawks.com, digital media reporter John Boyle shares six things to watch as the Seahawks take on the Vikings, including a running back position that should see rookie Alex Collins and Zac Brooks more involved, "With [Thomas] Rawls expected to do more next week and [C.J.] Prosise on track to perhaps play in the third preseason game, this week's game is just part of an evaluation process that will gain even more clarity next week."

Stephen Cohen at SeattlePI.com highlights six Seahawks players to watch against the Vikings, including rookie quarterback Trevone Boykin, "Carroll said the Seahawks would like to see Boykin 'clean up the huddle' as he continues his bid to be Russell Wilson's primary -- and perhaps only -- backup."

Sheil Kapadia at ESPN.com outlines what to watch for at each position for the Seahawks, including which wide receiver will emerge to claim a roster spot, "Who will emerge to win the fifth spot here? There are several candidates, including Kasen Williams, Kenny Lawler and Tanner McEvoy."

Nick Patterson at the Everett Herald says the Seahawks' new-look offensive line will be an area to keep an eye on, "The little bit of film available so far suggests there's a chance the new configuration could stick. Seattle's first-team offensive line played three series last Saturday against Kansas City, and while it was in the game the Seahawks were able to run the ball effectively and didn't allow a sack."

Bob Condotta at the Seattle Times says cornerback Tharold Simon will be one to watch tonight, "Simon had a pass interference penalty against the Chiefs, but Wednesday Carroll indicated Simon is ahead of the rest of the pack of reserves battling for a roster spot if not pushing for a starting role."

Tweet Of The Day

Today's "Tweet of the Day" comes from wideout Tyler Lockett, who shares a photo of himself with Seahawks Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Steve Largent.

More From Around The Web

Here at Seahawks.com, Boyle recaps an "awesome" Make-A-Wish visit at VMAC.

Quarterback Russell Wilson and coach Pete Carroll agree that this could be the Seahawks' deepest roster of their their time together in Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks invited two Make-A-Wish kids, Ryan and Angel, to attend practice, meet players and tour the locker room at Virginia Mason Athletic Center on Wednesday.
