DeShawn Shead enters his first season as assistant defensive backs after joining Seattle as defensive assistant/defensive backs on February 24, 2021, and an eight-year career in the NFL (Seattle Seahawks, 2012-17; Detroit Lions, 2018; New Orleans Saints, 2019). Shead was a part of Seattle's Super Bowl XLVIII-winning team during the 2013 season.
He was originally signed by Seattle as an undrafted free agent out of Portland State in 2012. In seven seasons with Seattle (2012-17) and Detroit (2018), Shead played in 66 contests with 22 starts at cornerback and one at strong safety, recording career totals of 146 tackles (108 solo) one sack, two interceptions, 23 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, 25 special teams tackles, one blocked punt and one special teams forced fumble. In 10 postseason contests with three starts for the Seahawks, he had 11 tackles (seven solo), four passes defensed and five special teams tackles. He signed with New Orleans in December of 2019, but did not play in a game.
