Seahawks Sign Tyrone Swoopes From Practice Squad

The Seahawks added depth at tight end ahead of Sunday's game against the Raiders in London.

The Seahawks made a roster move on Saturday, promoting Tyrone Swoopes from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders in London. To make room on the team's 53-man roster, wide receiver Keenan Reynolds was waived.

Swoopes' signing adds to a position group that has been dealing with injuries of late. Tight end Will Dissly was placed on injured reserve earlier this month and Nick Vannett (back) sat out practice this past Wednesday. Vannett worked in limited fashion on Thursday and received what head coach Pete Carroll called a rest day on Friday, and while Vannett is listed as questionable for this week's game against the Raiders, Carroll said the team expects Vannett to play.

"We just rested him today but he's playing," Carroll said of Vannett on Friday. "He's ready to go."

Swoopes joins the third-year pro Vannett and second-year pro Darrell Daniels at the tight end spot for the Seahawks. The 6-foot-4, 254-pound Swoopes played quarterback in college at the University of Texas but made the switch to tight end upon joining the Seahawks in May of last year. He spent time on the practice squad in 2017 before a late-season promotion to the active roster. In 2018, Swoopes was part of the team's roster cutdown to 53 players and re-signed with the team as part of the practice squad earlier this week.

Reynolds was signed by Seattle as a free agent this past May and released prior to the regular season on the team's roster cutdown to 53 players. He rejoined the club as part of the practice squad and was signed to the active roster in early September while Doug Baldwin was dealing with a knee injury. In preseason for the Seahawks, Reynolds had four catches for 35 yards.
