SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and KIRO Radio announced Alex Ledbetter of Bainbridge High School as week one CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Alex will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the Seahawks vs. Rams game on October 3.
Alex, a senior at Bainbridge High School, was selected the CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week based on his dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership, and athletic performance. Alex holds a 3.9 GPA while taking several AP courses and acting as captain of the football team. After a torn ACL his sophomore year kept him off the baseball team, Alex used his time off to become an umpire for his community's little league team. Alex also volunteers as a reading tutor for at-risk youth and has given many hours to community rotary events and youth sports camps. Through his community service, Alex has been a role model to kids, teaching them to value education over athletics. Despite setbacks, he remained positive and dedicated to both athletics and academics.
Each student athlete will be recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 grant to their school's Athletic Department from the Seahawks along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2019 Seahawks jersey. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the program.
