Frequently Asked Questions
If I already registered for auditions, do I have to re-register for auditions now that they are virtual?
Yes. Now that auditions have been changed to virtual, you'll need to re-register.
Do I have to audition virtually to be considered for the 2020 team or will there be live, in-person auditions as well at a later date?
You'll need to audition virtually. There will be no in-person auditions for the 2020 squad except for the Final round (which is still TBD and may become virtual).
When is the virtual audition deadline?
You must submit an online application, upload a headshot, sign the waiver and submit your open audition video by May 9, 2020 at 5pm.
How should I shoot my audition video?
We recommend you shoot your video horizontally to ensure a wide enough frame so we can see your whole performance! Make sure to shoot the video in a space with good lighting where you have enough room to showcase all of your skill.
How do I play music during my audition video?
We recommend you use a secondary device to play audition music loudly while you record your video using your phone.
How do I submit my video?
We will accept links to audition videos four ways: Vimeo, YouTube, Dropbox and iCloud. Note: if you make your account private on your chosen platform, there will be a space on the application to provide your password so we can view your video. Videos should be recorded in a 16:9 horizontal position.
Do I have to have prior professional dance experience to audition?
Will there be two separate teams (NFL Jazz/Pom & NFL Hip Hop)?
No, there will be one Seahawks Dancers team. Your freestyle dance for Open Auditions can be any style! If you make it past the Open Audition round, you'll choose either a choreographed NFL Jazz/Pom dance to perform or an NFL Hip Hop dance to perform. If you make it to the final round of auditions, all candidates will perform both a choreographed NFL Jazz/Pom routine and a choreographed NFL Hip Hop routine. These are the two styles the team performs most often on gameday. We are looking for dancers who can perform both styles!
What is the attire for Open and Semi-Final Auditions?
Wear whatever dance attire you feel comfortable in!
What is the attire for Final Auditions?
Wear current Seahawks colors in attire you feel comfortable dancing in. Seahawks logos are ok, but please cover any other branded logos.
If we make it to Finals, in addition to the NFL Jazz/Pom routine and the NFL Hip Hop routine, I see we need to perform a solo routine. How long does this solo need to be?
Solos should be between 45 seconds and one minute long. At one minute, the music will be cut because we need to allow enough time for all dancers to perform.
Can we choose any music for our solo?
Yes, please choose your own music-clean versions only! We will give you instructions on how to upload your solo music if you make it to the final round of auditions.
What do I need to wear for my solo routine?
You are welcome to wear the same Seahawks colored dance attire you will be doing the other two routines in, or, feel free to wear whatever outfit you feel compliments your solo! For example, if you are doing a salsa dancing routine, you may choose to wear a red dress. This is your chance to catch the judges eye and we can't wait to see your personality shine!
When do you officially begin your season?
Practices are tentatively planned to begin end of May.
How many members will be selected for the 2020 squad?
We are looking to take anywhere between 32 and 38 members.
