Signed a long-term deal February 16, 2005. Selected with the sixth over- all pick in the first round of the 1997 NFL Draft. Choice was acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on draft day for the Seahawks 12th overall choice in the first round and a third- round choice obtained from the Atlanta Falcons on March 28.

His 180 starts rank second in Seattle history (Steve Largent, 197) and 180 games played rank fourth in Seattle history.

Second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference choice as a junior. Eight-time winner of the Victors Club given to the player for exceptional performance. Redshirted in 1995 after transferring from Holmes Community College in Holmes, Miss. Lettered two seasons and was named Mississippi Junior College Player of the Year by the Jackson Clarion-Ledger in 1994. Allowed just one sack in two seasons. Also played some tight end in the second half of the 1994 season. Criminology major.

Football and basketball letterman at Aliceville High School in Aliceville, Ala. Lives in Woodinville, Wash., with his wife, Valeria. They have paternal twins, Walterius and Waleria, and one stepson, Rafael.
