HOW ACQUIRED:

Local product chosen with the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft, becoming the first defensive player taken in the first round by the Seahawks since DE Lamar King (1999) and only the third cornerback drafted in the first round by the Seahawks in team history. The fifth-highest cornerback taken by Seattle and highest since Shawn Springs was chosen third in 1997.

  • 2010 marks his eighth season with the Seahawks, only Matt Hasselbeck has a longer tenure (10th season).
  • Has started 103 of 104 career games. Started the first 94 games of his career before coming off the bench in nickle situations at Dallas (11/1/09) following a back injury.

  • Earned first NFL Pro Bowl Honors in 2007 after starting all 16 games, registering 85 tack- les (78 solo), career-high seven interceptions (2nd NFC, T3rd NFL), 16 passes defensed and first-career touchdown
  • Tied a franchise record with career-high three interceptions vs. Arizona (12/9/07) includ- ing one 84 yards for first career touchdown.
  • In the 2007 NFC Wild CardGame vs. Washington (1/5/08) returned interception 78 yards for a score and set club playoff records for most interception yards for a career (78) and game (78), longest interception return (78) and most interception touchdowns (1) for a career and game (Babineaux returned interception 57 yards for a touchdown later in the game). Also recorded six tackles (three solo), an intercep- tion and three passes defensed.
  • Set a career high with nine tackles threetimes in six-year career, including vs. Green Bay (10/12/08).
  • In 2004 became only the fourth cornerback in NFL history to lead their team in total tackles with 93.
  • One of two rookies (S Ken Hamlin) to start on defense in 2003 while recording 78 tackles (69 solo), two interceptions and a team-high 20 passes defensed.

COLLEGE:

Started at Washington State since early in his freshman year. Did not allow a touchdown reception in his last two seasons. Finished college career with 201 tackles (153 solo), five tackles for loss, 11 interceptions, and 49 pass deflections in 42 games. As a senior, was selected an All-American second-team pick by the Associated Press and first-team All-Pac-10 Conference choice. Served as team captain and started every game at left cornerback. Finished the season third on the team with 74 tackles (59 solo). Also had three interceptions, deflected 13 passes, and recovered a fumble.  Returned 38 punts for 402 yards (10.6 avg.).

PERSONAL:

Attended Wilson (Tacoma, Wash.) High School. Earned three varsity letters, two in basketball and track. Served as a team captain for three sports as a senior. As a junior, named the top offensive player on the team, while in basketball, he was chosen Mr. Defense. Triple jumped 47-6 to capture ninth place at the State track meet. As a senior, earned All-State first-team honors by Associated Press, the Seattle PI, and Washington Prep Report. Was a Seattle Times Red Chip honoree and named to the Western 100 (number eight DB) by the Tacoma News Tribune.  Named Washington AAAA player of the Year by TNT, as well as to the paper's all-league, all-area, and all-state teams.  Won the state 4-A title. Scored 30 touchdowns and rushed for more than 1,800 yards.  On defense, recorded 48 tackles and eight interceptions.  Majored in communications. Married to Jessica and has two daughters, Karmyn and Kimora.
