HOW ACQUIRED:

Selected by Seattle with the 26th pick in the seventh round (233rd over-all) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

NFL CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Earned position on the Seahawks 53-man roster to open the 2008 season, but was waived following Week 1 on September 9 and signed with Indianapolis. Saw limited action as a returner on special teams. Returned to Seattle’s practice squad on October 8 eventually signing to the active roster on October 14.
  • Led team in 2009 with a 5.4 yards/carry avg. and four rushing TDs while finishing second with 114 carries and 619 yards. Became the first player since Shaun Alexander in 2005 to score at least one TD in four consecutive games.
  • Served rookie season as the Seahawks primary punt returner and was second among all NFL rookies with a 9.7-yard return average.
  • First running back selected by the Seahawks since 2002 (Maurice Morris). Marked the second consecutive year team drafted a player from California (Brandon Mebane, 2007) and third in club history (Bobby Shaw, 1998).

COLLEGE:

In 49 games at California, Forsett started 18 games, including 13 as a senior. He ranks third in school history with 3,220 yards rushing and fourth with 26 touchdowns on the ground, as he carried 567 times (5.7-yard avg.). He caught 41 passes for 386 yards (9.4 avg.) and a score, adding 162 yards on 10 kickoff returns (16.2 avg.) while recovering a blocked punt for a touchdown. He also recorded seven tackles (six solo) on special teams.

PERSONAL:

Attended Grace Prep (Arlington, Tex.) Academy as a junior and senior. Spent freshman and sophomore years at Polk (Mulberry, Fla.) High before family moved to Texas. Led the Academy to back-to-back state championships in the Texas private school division, earning Class 4A first-team All-State and Most Valuable Player honors. Member of the Dallas Morning News' All-Area Top 100 team and participated in the Texas All-Star Game, earning MVP accolades in that contest. The explosive running back scored 63 touchdowns and rushed for nearly 5,000 yards during final two seasons. Also lettered in basketball and track at Grace Prep. Married to Angela.
