Signed with Seattle as an unrestricted free agent from Dallas on March 10, 2008. Originally drafted in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

 

 

 

NFL CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

 

Rushed for back-to-back 100-yard games for the Seahawks vs. the 49ers (9/14/08) and Rams (9/21/08), posting 127 and 140 yards, respectively.

 

At Seattle (12/6/04), had a career high 198 yards on 30 carries and a career high three touchdowns.

 

Became the first player in Dallas history, and the second player in NFL history (Earl Campbell), to have at least 30 carries in three consecutive games.

 

Topped 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in career in 2006, becoming the first Cowboy to do so since Emmitt Smith in 2001. Jones finished with 267 rushes for 1,084 yards.

 

Jones rushed for 100 yards four times in 2006 and became the first Dallas back to have three consecutive 100-yard games since Smith in 2000.

At the N.Y. Giants (12/4/05), recorded nine receptions and 88 receiving yards, both of which were career bests.

 

In 2004, missed eight-of-the-first-nine games of the season (ribs, scapula). Started the final seven games of the season and finished with 819 rushing yards, and seven rushing touch- downs, leading all NFL rookies.

 

Finished Dallas career in eighth place on team’s rushing chart with 3,484 yards on 885 carries.

 

 

 

COLLEGE:

 

Was one of four running backs in Notre Dame history to rush for over 3,000 yards in his career. Started 17 of 45 games and gained 3,018 yards on 634 carries and scored 26 touch- downs. His 1,678 kickoff return yards broke Tim Brown’s school record of 1,613 yards, and his 2,104 combined kick return yards also broke Brown’s school record. Jones’ 5,372 all-purpose yards was a Notre Dame record. His final season, he set a school record by running for more than 200 yards in a game three times. He finished with 229 carries for 1,268 yards, tied for the fourth-most in school history, and scored 10 touchdowns. His 1,568 all-purpose yards were the most in a season by a Notre Dame player since former Cowboy Raghib Ismail had 1,723 yards in 1990.

 

 

 

PERSONAL:

 

Attended Powell Valley High, where he earned honorable mention USA Today All-America honors. He earned four letters in football and captained his team as a senior, when he rushed for 2,564 yards and 36 touchdowns. He was named the Virginia Group A Offensive Player of the Year in 1997 and 1998 by the AP and Virginia High School Coaches Association. Career totals include 614 carries for 5,803 yards and 86 touchdowns. He also played safety and made 10 career interceptions. He helped Powell Valley win 28 straight games and the Virginia Group A-Division II state title in 1997 and 1998. Earned four letters in basketball, serving as a senior captain and leading the team to league titles as a sophomore and junior. He also earned four letters in track and earning all-state honors his last three seasons while competing in hurdle and jumping events. In 1998, he ran the 300 intermediate hurdles in a state record 38.7 seconds. His older brother, Thomas, was the sixth pick in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, also played for Tampa Bay, Chicago and currently for the N.Y. Jets. Majored in sociology. Married to wife Kelly, and has a son Julius.
