Signed by Seattle on April 27, 2008, as an undrafted rookie free agent. Spent the first nine weeks of 2008 on the practice squad before signing to the active roster and making his NFL debut vs. Arizona (11/16) on special teams. Returned to practice squad for four weeks and was brought up to active roster where he was inactive for weeks 16-17.
Played in 47 career games and made 34 starting assignments at safety, contributing 172 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and four interceptions. Was an All-Big Ten Conference second-team pick after his senior season, and named the Brandstatter-Beckmann Coaches Award recipient, given to the Wolverine senior that best demonstrates passion, dedication and commitment to the team. Started all thirteen games at strong safety, leading the team with a career-high 92 tackles (39 solo). Added a sack, 13 passes defensed and three interceptions.
Attended David W. Butler High School and totaled 225 tackles, 23 interceptions, three sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one blocked field goal in his four-year career at cornerback and safety. Named to the CBS All-America team. Voted team captain as a senior. Chosen as a Wendy’s High School Heisman Finalist. Selected as the Charlotte Observer Player of the Year as a senior. Was all-state, all-conference and conference player of the year as a senior. Was an All-Southwestern Conference 4A selection as a sophomore, junior and senior. Participated in basketball and was a three-year member of the track team. Majored in general studies. Born on November 29, 1985.
