Traded by Detroit in exchangefor linebacker Julian Peterson on March 14, 2009. Orginally drafted bythe Lions in the third round (66th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE:

 

Two-time first-team All-Big 12 Conference selection, playing in every game since arrival at Texas, including a string of 35 consecutive starts. Finished career with 201 tackles (123 solo), 21 sacks, 53 stops for losses of 249 yards, an interception, six pass deflections, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. As a senior, was one of four finalists for the Lombardi Award  and inaugural Hendricks Award and was on the Nagurski Award watch list.

 

 

 

PERSONAL:

 

Named USA Today’s National Defensive Player of the Year and a consensus All-American choice as a senior in 1998 at North Shore High after he recorded 215 tackles (103 solo), 15 sacks, 22 stops for losses, 25 pressures, six forced fumbles, five fumble recover- ies and four interceptions. Also named the nation’s top linebacker by Parade, Associated Press All-State first-team and Texas Sports Writers Association Texas Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year. Excelled in track, winning the state Class 5A title in the discus as a junior and senior (career-best toss of 193’9”).
