Signed by Seattle as an unrestricted free agent from Cleveland on March 9, 2007. Originally signed by Minnesota as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 27, 2001. Waived by Minnesota on September 2, 2001, and signed to practice squad two days later. Signed by Cleveland as a restricted free agent on April 8, 2005.

● In 2003, started all 16 games and finished with 95 tackles. Started the season with an interception in each of the first six games and finished the year tied for the NFL lead with nine interceptions.

 

● Posted a career-high two interceptions vs. Kansas City  (12/20/03) and tied a Vikings' record with three takeaways in one game by posting his first career fumble recovery.

 

● Tied career-high with two picks vs. Baltimore (1/1/06).

COLLEGE:

 

Made the transition from quarterback to safety midway through his junior season. Named All-Mountain West honorable mention defensive back his senior year. Played in six games at free safety and five at corner and finished the season fourth on the team with 68 tackles (41 solo), one interception and two recovered fumbles. As a junior, played in eight games and finished with 20 tackles after starting the season at quarterback. Completed 19 of 42 for 215 yards and two touchdowns on the year. Made his defensive debut at Utah, contributing 10 tackles (four solo). Named team’s offensive captain at the beginning of his sophomore year. Took over at quarterback in the first quarter of the second game of the season at USC because of injury. Finished with five rushing touchdowns on the season, the most for a San Diego State quarterback since 1981. Ran for 51 yards in the Aztecs' first win of the season at Tulsa, the most rushing yards from an Aztec quarterback in 17 years. Completed 55 of 84 passes for 663 yards, including two touch- downs and an interception and a passer rating of 137.3 in his last three games of the season. Led San Diego State to a Las Vegas Bowl berth vs. North Carolina. Redshirted after transferring from Penn in 1997. In 1996, first freshman to ever start at quarterback for Penn. Played in 10 games and started two games. Finished 27 of 43 for 320 yards, adding four touchdowns and four interceptions.

 

 

 

PERSONAL:

 

Played quarterback for Bishop Amat High in West Covina, Calif. and led school to the 1995 CIF Division I Championship. Del Rey League Champions in 1993, 1994 and 1995. Named All-Del Rey League and East-West All Star MVP.  Father, Paul, is a football coach at Mt. San Antonio Junior College.  Wife, Leslie, is a track athlete who competed in the 2004 Olympic trials final in the javelin. In 2005 participated in an NFL and NFL Players Association three-day executive education program at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Kinesiology major.
