Quinn returns to Seattle where he was assistant head coach/defensive line coach in 2009 under Jim Mora and was one of three holdovers in 2010 on Carroll's staff when he coached the defensive line. He was instrumental in the position switch of Red Bryant from defensive tackle to defensive end in 2010.

Dan Quinn left Seattle to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Florida where his defenses ranked in the top-10 in the country in 2011 and 2012.

He began his NFL coaching career in San Francisco as its defensive quality control coach in 2001 before moving to coach the 49ers defensive line from 2003-04. He also coached the defensive lines for the Miami Dolphins (2005-06) and the N.Y. Jets (2007-08).
