Amanda at the Pro Bowl - Battle of the Beauties

Posted Jan 30, 2010

Today some of the AFC and NFC cheerleaders competed in games like volleyball and flag football, while the rest of us signed posters for the fans and performed our sideline routines in the sand.

We had a wonderful morning practice today. We learned our pregame routine and reviewed all our sideline dances on the field at the Dolphins practice facility. Maria from E2K stopped by our rehearsal to give us the most incredible speech. She told us about the history of the Pro Bowl Cheerleader program and how special it is to be a part of the NFL’s all-star cheerleading team. Her words were powerful, and she had us all in tears.

During rehearsal we were also visited by a professional cheerleading team from Japan. They came all the way from Tokyo and will be performing a routine with us during our open field practice tomorrow. Four of us had the privilege to teach two of our sideline dances to the Japanese cheerleaders. It was so much fun working with them!

Today was also the “Battle of the Beauties” competition on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Some of the AFC and NFC cheerleaders competed in games like volleyball and flag football, while the rest of us signed posters for the fans and performed our sideline routines in the sand. The NFC cheerleaders won the competition and took home gold medals.

After the beach competition we held an evening reception, where we were able to meet some of the other cheerleaders’ families. After the reception we went back to the Dolphins practice field to learn three feature dances. We now know all the choreography for our game day performances. We still need to go over some game day procedures, but we are getting closer to being fully prepared for our moment on the field. It’s almost game time!
