Seahawks sign LB Matt McCoy

Seahawks signed linebacker Matt McCoy to a one-year contract.

Renton, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks signed linebacker Matt McCoy to a one-year contract, the team announced this afternoon.

McCoy comes to Seattle after spending the last two seasons in Tampa Bay. He played in 12 games in 2009 (two starts), recording nine tackles. An original 2005 second-round pick by Philadelphia, McCoy spent two-plus seasons with Philadelphia before finishing the 2007 season with New Orleans.

A product of San Diego State, McCoy has played in 47 career games (12 starts), registering 97 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles and two passes defensed. The 27-year-old has also contributed 50 stops with one forced fumble on special teams.
