Seahawks announce roster moves

Renton, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks have released safety Jordan Babineaux, fullback Owen Schmitt and defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson, it was announced this afternoon. Replacing them on the roster are defensive end Raheem Brock, running back Michael Robinson and defensive tackle Junior Siavii.

Brock was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh-round (238th overall) in the 2002 NFL Draft. His rights were relinquished and he signed with the Indianapolis Colts on July 28, 2002. Brock played eight seasons with the Colts before signing with Tennessee on August 12, 2010 and was released on September 4. He played 77 straight games, starting 72, before not playing due to injury at San Diego (11/11/07). He has started 104 of 120 career games, with 396 tackles (313 solo) and 28.5 sacks.

Originally a quarterback at Penn State, Robinson was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth-round (100th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft as a running back. Known for his special teams play, he has been named an alternate for the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons. He has 79 special teams tackles in 62 career games, with two starts in the backfield. Robinson has rushed 86 times for 289 yards with a long of 33 and two touchdowns in his career.

Siavii was drafted in the second-round (36th overall) by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2004 NFL Draft. He played in 26 games in Kansas City before being out of football from 2006-08. He then signed with Dallas on January 12, 2009 and played in all 16 games last season, recording a career-high 29 tackles (12 solo). He has played in 42 career games with 56 tackles (27 solo) and one sack.

Babineaux joined Seattle as an undrafted rookie in 2004. He went on to play 83 games with 29 starts at both cornerback and safety, including starting all 16 games last season at safety where he posted a career-high 105 tackles (78 solo). Babineaux collected 319 tackles (260 solo), 2.5 sacks, eight interceptions and 23 passes defensed in his career.

Schmitt spent two seasons with the club after being selected in the fifth-round (163rd overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft. He played in 30 games with two starts, carrying the ball five times for 21 yards.

Vickerson was acquired on a draft day trade on April 24, 2010 with the Tennessee Titans.
