Seahawks WR Baldwin to Kick-Off Reading Program at Concord Elementary School

Wide receiver Doug Baldwin, the Sea Gals, and Blitz set to celebrate the importance of reading with area youth.

WHAT: Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin, Sea Gals and mascot Blitz, will join students at Concord Elementary School for a special family literacy day to celebrate the importance of reading and supporting childhood literacy at home. Every child will receive a $5 reading certificate to use at the Scholastic Read and Rise® Book Fair. These reading certificates will be extremely meaningful to the children at Concord Elementary, where more than 87% of the children come from low-income families.

WHEN: Tuesday,September 11, 10:30 - 11:30 AM

WHERE: Concord Elementary School, 723 S. Concord St., Seattle

WHY: The mission of Scholastic Read & Rise Book Fairs, is to help communities rally behind literacy and help families foster the skills, attitudes, and behaviors that support children's literacy development through fun, literacy-based events. These and other activities planned for the week of September 10 will get books into the hands of children and provide helpful tips on ways to keep them active.
