SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Q13 FOX (KCPQ) today announced Madison Colley of Emerald Ridge High School as the week 7 CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Madison will be recognized at CenturyLink Field during the November 3 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Madison, a junior at Emerald Ridge, was selected Athlete of the Week based on her dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership and athletic performance. Madison holds a 4.0 GPA and takes multiple AP courses. She lettered in three sports as a sophomore last year - cross country, basketball and track - and was able to advance to the state championships for both cross country and track. Madison earned a United Way Varsity Letter for community service last year after volunteering more than 145 hours of service during the school year. She volunteered as a vacation bible school counselor, an elementary school 6th grade camp counselor, a Jr. Jag basketball counselor, as well as spending many hours at St. Francis House in Puyallup. Three days a week, Madison attends a zero hour Leadership class which is responsible for setting up all the assemblies, dances and charity drives at the school. She is also on the board of directors for a non-profit charity called "Make the Dash Count" which benefits at-risk youth programs in Tacoma.
As the CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week, Madison will also be recognized at her school in front of her family, peers and teachers. She will also receive a $1,000 grant from CenturyLink and the Seahawks for her school's Associated Student Bodies (ASB) fund, in addition to media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, and a customized 2013 Seahawks jersey.
