RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks today announced the 2013 NFL High School Coach of the Week program.
Each week, two Washington state football coaches will be named "NFL High School Coaches of the Week." The weekly recipients will receive a $500 cash donation for their football program from the Seattle Seahawks.
For week one of the 2013 program, Moses Lake High School's Todd Griffith and Mark Morris High School's Shawn Perkins were named "NFL High School Coaches of the Week" for the state of Washington.
Griffith led his Moses Lake Chiefs (1-0) to a 27-24 victory over the Walla Walla Blue Devils in a non-league matchup on Friday, September 6.
Perkins' Mark Morris Monarchs (1-0) found the win column with a 40-20 victory over the visiting Kelso Hilanders in their non-league game on Friday.
Now in its 18th season, the NFL High School Coach of the Week program is a partnership between the Washington State Football Coaches Association and the Seattle Seahawks.
Following the season, one coach will receive the Jim Ennis Award for High School Coach of the Year. The 2013 NFL High School Coach of the Year for Washington State will receive a $2,000 cash grant.
