After our first padded practice and evening meetings yesterday I had some stir-fry for dinner at the facility. From the VMAC I went over to Earl Thomas
’ house to check out his new crib. We hung out over there for a little bit and then I came back to the hotel and got a much-needed massage. That felt good. From there I just went back up to the room, hopped in my hyperbaric chamber, looked at the playbook for a while, and then fell asleep.
Today in practice my focus was on making sure my assignments were correct, executing the plays the way they were designed. For the most part today I think I did a decent job. I’ve still got some things I’ve got to work on.
The wide receiver group is standing out to me more this year. It’s not that big of a surprise though because I know what we’re all capable of. Whenever the ball is thrown up we’re all just kind of making plays. That’s what I expect from our group. For the most part at this point in camp I’d say we’re doing everything right. I think one of the reasons for that is the fact that we were able to have a whole offseason of workouts and familiarity with the rest of the group. It makes a huge difference. This year we got a chance to throw with Russell [Wilson], T-Jack [Tarvaris Jackson] and [Matt] Flynn this whole offseason, then OTAs, and then minicamp, so we already had a feeling for what type of ball they’re going to throw, how they’re going to run the offense, and even their personalities, which helps a lot. All of that compared to last year where we had to start from pretty much square-one with a new offense and a new quarterback all at one time. I feel like we’re definitely ahead of where we were last year around this time.
I’m excited to have a day off tomorrow. It’s my birthday on Thursday, so we’re going to celebrate my birthday tomorrow. I’m going to have a birthday dinner and invited a few of the guys over with their girlfriends and wives just to hang out – nothing too big, just hang out and stay off our feet on the off day.
