Madden Cover Unveiled

Jurgen Klinsmann Draws Inspiration From Pete Carroll

U.S. Men's National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann is looking to Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll for inspiration during the team's run in World Cup 2014. According to Martin Rogers of Yahoo Sports, the two became friends during Carroll's time at the University of Southern California.

"There is an art to what Pete does that a lot of people don't see," Klinsmann said at the U.S. team's pre-World Cup training last month. "Just that kind of positive mindset all the time. Every detail. That kind of energy. Keeping a smile on the faces of him and the players. It is huge.

"That is what we want here, to have the players feeling good about everything they are doing. To believe in what they are doing because it has a purpose and it is working towards something bigger. From what I saw Coach Carroll is the kind of person who gives you confidence as a player.

"Look at the way his team plays. You can see it there."

The U.S. wraps up World Cup group stage play on Thursday against Germany. They can clinch a spot in the round of 16 with a win or draw against the German side, a loss and a Portugal-Ghana draw, or a loss and tiebreaker-win against the Portugal-Ghana winner.
