Defensive end Cliff Avril needs your help recruiting volunteers to better the Seattle community.

Before you settle in for Super Bowl XLVIII, the United Way and Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril need your help.

Avril is the Seahawks representative in the TEAM NFL Playoff Challenge - a competition between a member of each club to recruit the most volunteers to help better their respective communities.

"We're trying to get more people out there to go and volunteer their time for youth," Avril said from his seat at NFL Media Day this past Tuesday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. "Get guys out there to volunteer their time and tutor, mentor, and do a big thing for education."

Avril currently trails Buffalo Bills linebacker Arthur Moats for the campaign lead, having recruited 5,810 volunteers to Moats' 5,910. The challenge ends this Sunday, Feb. 2, after which a $10,000 grant for community work will be awarded to the winner.

"I feel like education is key, especially in our community," said Avril. "We just need more people to go out there and volunteer."

More than 35,000 volunteers have been recruited throughout the 2013-14 NFL season. You can join TEAM AVRIL right here and click here to check out more of what United Way has to offer.
