Tuesday Round-Up: Seahawks wipe slate clean ahead of rematch with Saints

Posted Jan 7, 2014

A morning link round-up of what's "out there" about your Seattle Seahawks

Good morning, 12th Man.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Tuesday, Jan. 7 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Terry Blount of ESPN.com says do not expect another Seahawks blowout victory this time around against the Saints, reporting Pete Carroll has told his club to forget all about the team's last meeting with New Orleans. Blount also says we should have a good indication by the end of this week whether or not wide receiver Percy Harvin (hip) will play in Saturday's game.

Cary Chow and Herm Edwards of ESPN.com discuss what makes the Seahawks' secondary so special in this short video.

Dave Boling of the Tacoma News Tribune has a closer look at the effect the eight remaining quarterbacks will have on the playoffs, noting there are 40 Pro Bowl honors and six MVP awards among the group.

Don Ruiz of the Tacoma News Tribune, reporting from Saints camp in Louisiana this week, says winning this past weekend in Philadelphia against the Eagles brought confidence to New Orleans' ability to play in a hostile road environment.

John Boyle of the Everett Herald writes the Seahawks will be putting last month's win over the Saints in the rear-view mirror.

Tim Booth of the Associated Press makes it clear the Seahawks are not expecting another easy win over the Saints this weekend.

Larry Stone of the Seattle Times is not buying into any "doomsday" theories surrounding this year's No.1-seeded Seahawks squad, citing a steady quarterback, a near-impenetrable home-field advantage, and the possible return of wide receiver Percy Harvin as reasons to expect the best this postseason.

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times rehashes the coaching history of Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who has recently attracted interest for head coaching jobs around the League.

Brady Henderson of 710Sports.com tells us how Pete Carroll is keeping his team from becoming overconfident heading into Saturday's game against the Saints.

Art Thiel of SportsPressNW.com says the Saints know two things this trip they did not know back on Dec. 2, 2013 - they can win on the road in the playoffs, and the Seahawks can lose at home.

Tim Lewis of KOMO 4 News details quarterback Russell Wilson's mentality ahead of Saturday's game against the Saints.

Peter King of TheMMQB.com says Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan's play will go a long way in determining whether or not New Orleans comes out on top this Saturday. Jordan led the Saints with 12.0 sacks this season and added 1.5 more in the wild-card win over the Eagles.

Greg A. Bedard of TheMMQB.com comments on the lack of penalty flags thrown during wild-card weekend - especially in the secondary, something Bedard says is good for the game.

Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News says history and odds are stacked against the Seahawks and Denver Broncos this postseason, noting only once since 2002 have the top-seeded clubs from each conference met in the Super Bowl (2009, Colts vs Saints).

Josh Kerns of MyNorthwest.com has a story on former Seahawks fullback Mack Strong's TEAM-WORKS Foundation that aims at supporting at-risk youth both socially and academically.

NASCAR driver and Washington native Kasey Kahne is teaming up with quarterback Russell Wilson for a charity concert and golf tournament this summer to raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County.

Here at Seahawks.com, I recap and provide audio from Pete Carroll's Monday morning conversation with 710 ESPN Seattle's "Brock and Danny." I also pass along several local establishments that will hold Sea Hawkers-hosted fan rallies the night before the Seahawks' divisional-round game against the Saints.

And Digital Media Reporter Clare Farnsworth has his first look at the Saints, stresses it's the Saints and Seahawks' most recent games that hold more meaning over what happened between the two clubs six weeks ago, and shares Pete Carroll's assessment of what went down on wild-card weekend.
