A morning link round-up of what's "out there" about your Seattle Seahawks

Good morning, 12th Man.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Tuesday, March 11  - about your Seattle Seahawks:

NFL free agency officially opens today, but the Seahawks got things started yesterday afternoon in a big way with the re-signing of defensive end Michael Bennett, who led the Super Bowl champions in sacks (8.5) last season. Bennett was widely considered one of the League's top pass rushers on the market this year. He met with reporters Monday afternoon to share why he chose to stay in Seattle.

“I just love the organization and the things they’re about,” Bennett said. “I love the staff – from the equipment staff to the medical staff, it just goes on and on. Everybody here, they’re good people. And I really enjoy that.

“I love the fans here, and that’s one of the main reasons I came back. … These people, they just love the players and I appreciate that and how much they put into being one of the biggest reasons why we win games."

Coach Pete Carroll joined SiriusXM NFL Radio's "Movin' the Chains" with Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan on Monday to talk about defensive end Michael Bennett's extension. Carroll tells SiriusXM, "We really need him to play more. He didn't play a lot of plays in the first half of the season, then he played more as the year went on and we just got better."
