The fifth-year Seahawks tight end suffered an Achilles injury during Tuesday's practice.

For the second consecutive season, tight end Anthony McCoy has been placed on injured reserve.

The fifth-year Seahawks tight end, who missed the 2013 season with a torn Achilles tendon, suffered an injury to his other Achilles during Tuesday's training camp practice at Renton's Virginia Mason Athletic Center.

“If it is what they think it is it’s just a real heartbreaker," head coach Pete Carroll said of McCoy’s setback after Tuesday's practice. "He’s worked so hard to get back.”

In McCoy's place, the Seahawks signed wide receiver Ronald Johnson to fill out the 90-man roster. The 5-11, 199-pound Johnson, who played his college ball at the University of Southern California, has spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers since entering the League as a sixth-round draft choice in 2011.
