Thursday Round-Up: Pro Bowl voting ends today

Posted Dec 26, 2013

A morning link round-up of what's "out there" about your Seattle Seahawks

Good morning, 12th Man.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Thursday, December 26 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

NFL Pro Bowl balloting comes to a close today at 3 p.m., meaning this is your last chance to vote your Seahawks to the Aloha state for January's game. Pro Bowl rosters are set to be announced tomorrow at 3 p.m. on NFL Network.

Dave Boling of the Tacoma News Tribune has the break down of where several Seahawks stand in Pro Bowl votes and sheds some light on a few Seattle players who are deserving of the honor, but who may go overlooked.

Former Seahawks quarterback Jon Kitna, the 41-year-old Lincoln High School math teacher/football coach who was signed out of NFL retirement this week by the Dallas Cowboys, will donate his week's pay of $53,000 back to the Tacoma high school.

Elliot Harrison of NFL.com has his picks in for Week 17, taking the Seahawks over the St. Louis Rams 17-10. On the matchup, Harrison writes, "These two clubs locked up in Week 17 last year in the same locale. And just like last year's game, this matchup will come down to one last-gasp Rams drive against that Seahawks defense in front of that Seattle crowd. Last year, 7-7-1 St. Louis was playing for a winning record. This year, Jeff Fisher's club is 7-8 and trying to make it to .500. Interesting, by the way, that the Rams went 3-4 with Sam Bradford starting and 4-4 with Kellen Clemens. When the game is on the line, can Clemens make the kinds of throws that Carson Palmer did for the Cardinals when Arizona upset Seattle last Sunday? Sure. He probably won't throw four picks like Palmer did in that one, either. Of course, the Rams have to emulate Arizona in another important way: Make consistent stops. St. Louis' defense is a completely different animal on the road -- a dead one, in fact. The Rams allow 23.7 points and 372 yards per away game."

Terry Blount of ESPN.com says controlling Rams defensive end Robert Quinn, who leads the NFL with 18.0 sacks, will be key to the Seahawks' success this Sunday at CenturyLink Field.

NFL.com Around the League writer Gregg Rosenthal has his latest QB Index, where Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson comes in at No. 6.

Jayson Jenks of the Seattle Times has a heart-warming story recapping what strong safety Kam Chancellor did for his mother after he signed a contract extension with the Seahawks earlier this year.

The Seattle Times put together an entertaining video depicting several Seahawks fan superstitions. The Times also puts the focus on one unique fan - a timelapse showing the three-hour gameday transformation of "Sea-Hulk."

Here at Seahawks.com, we have an infographic encouraging you to vote fullback Michael Robinson to this year's Pro Bowl.

Digital Media Reporter Clare Farnsworth catches up with Breno Giacomini, K.J. Wright, and Steven Hauschka on some of the favorite Christmas gifts they've received over the years.

And the Seahawks did not practice yesterday, but the team did release an estimation of participation had a practice been held. Percy Harvin (hip), Jermaine Kearse (ankle), Red Bryant (Knee), Richard Sherman (Hip), Marshawn Lynch (Not Injury Related) and Earl Thomas (thigh) did not participate, while J.R. Sweezy (concussion), Derrick Coleman (shoulder), Russell Okung (toe), and Malcolm Smith (ankle) participated in full.
