Thomas named to 2012 Pro Bowl

Renton, Wash. – Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas was named a starting safety for the NFC squad in the 2012 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced today. Thomas becomes the first Seahawks player to be voted to the Pro Bowl since tackle Walter Jones and linebacker Julian Peterson after the 2008 season.

He has started all 15 games this season and is second on the team with a career-high 88 tackles (64 solo) with two interceptions, six passes defensed and two fumble recoveries. Earlier this season, he established a career-high with 10 tackles (four solo) vs. Cincinnati (10/30).

Seattle’s second of two first-round picks (14th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft, Thomas has played in all 31 career games, collecting 159 tackles (124 solo), seven interceptions, 13 passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

The Seahawks also have five total alternates to the NFL’s annual all-star game. Cornerback Brandon Browner, safety Kam Chancellor and fullback Michael Robinson are first alternates, running back Marshawn Lynch is a second alternate and punter Jon Ryan is a third alternate.
