The Baby Face Assassin

Posted Nov 7, 2013

This was Jermaine Kearse in the fourth, or maybe fifth, grade while playing for the Lakewood Lumberjacks.

When Jermaine Kearse was shown the photo of him as a youth football player, the first thing the Seahawks’ big-play wide receiver did was smile.

Then he shook his head. Then he offered, “Man, that was long time ago. And I had a baby face.”

That was Kearse in the fourth, or maybe fifth, grade while playing for the Lakewood Lumberjacks: The Baby Face Assassin.

And, he wasn’t a receiver in those days. “I started out as a quarterback,” he said. “Those were fun times. I scored like 20 touchdowns that season, rushing. I only had one pass attempt.”

Now, in his second season with the Seahawks, Kearse is on the other end of this quarterback-receiver thing.
