The Seahawks went for defense in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday, selecting Middle Tennessee State tackle
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Staten was the 32nd pick in the fifth round and 172nd overall.
A starter the past three seasons, Staten battled a knee injury in 2013, when he had 30 tackles. He produced a career-high 36 tackles in 2012.
His addition provides depth at a spot where the Seahawks lost Clinton McDonald in free agency.
The Seahawks still have two picks in the sixth round and another in the seventh round.
