Seahawks react to meeting Saints in NFC divisional-round

Posted Jan 4, 2014

New Orleans' 26-24 wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles means the Seahawks will meet the Saints in the NFC's divisional-round on Saturday, Jan. 11 at CenturyLink Field.

The Seahawks' divisional-round playoff opponent is set.

The New Orleans Saints collected their first road playoff win in franchise history (1-5) when kicker Shayne Graham booted a 32-yard field goal at the end of regulation to power a 26-24 victory over the Eagles on Saturday night in Philadelphia. The wild-card result means the No. 6-seeded Saints will travel to Seattle to face the No.1-seeded Seahawks at 1:35 p.m. PT next Saturday, Jan. 11 at CenturyLink Field.

Next Saturday's game signals a rematch of a Dec. 2, 2013 Monday Night Football meeting between the two clubs in the Emerald City, when the Seahawks topped the Saints 34-7 behind a dominant defensive performance and a 22/30, 310-yard, 3-TD day from quarterback Russell Wilson.

It also marks a rematch of the Seahawks' last home playoff game - a 41-36 wild-card win over the then-defending-Super-Bowl-champion Saints back on Jan. 8, 2011. In that game, running back Marshawn Lynch's 67-yard "Beast Quake" run iced the victory while registering seismic activity at CenturyLink Field in what would be quarterback Matt Hasselbeck's final home game as a Seahawk.

After a week of waiting to learn who they would face in this year's divisional-round, several Seahawks players took to Twitter to share their reaction to the Saints ousting the Eagles in the wild-card round.
